Volunteer Mentor

Eikon (VSNS)

The Eikon Charity supports children and young people to overcome difficulties, become resilient and develop into confident adults who contribute positively to their communities. Wherever a young person is on that journey and whether they’re feeling good about life or are really struggling, we’re there for them. We believe in their potential.

We work with young people directly in schools and communities across Surrey and beyond, one-to-one, in groups and clubs – and with and through partners, supporting them to deliver services that improve young people’s physical and emotional wellbeing and mental health. We work in partnership with schools, communities, health & social care, and other organisations, because we believe that working together works.

We are looking for volunteers to join our Mentoring Programme and support young people in schools in the Southwest Surrey area during term time.  We are currently looking for new mentors to join our mentoring programme at Collingwood College, Camberley; Kings College, Guildford; Weydon School, Farnham; Woolmer Hill School, Haslemere; Fullbrook School, New Haw.

1:1 support gives young people a chance to talk over their problems and have dedicated support for 1-2 hours a week. This raises their self-esteem and cope better with everyday life.

What skills do I need?

Be a good listener and understand the issues young people face today.

Volunteer mentors will receive thorough induction training before commencing their role in school and will have the opportunity of ongoing training and support throughout their time volunteering with Eikon.

The role is flexible and we are looking for volunteers who can offer around 2 hours per week time commitment, in school, term time only.
