Headway Surrey
Headway Surrey is looking for friendly, caring and reliable volunteers to support our Centre Workshops at Headway House in Guildford.
Our workshops help adults with acquired and traumatic brain injury to rebuild confidence, relearn skills and develop strategies to manage challenges with memory, communication, planning, organisation and everyday life.
You will work alongside our experienced Reablement Coordinators and other volunteers to:
• Support clients one-to-one with cognitive worksheets and activities • Help with group workshops and discussions • Encourage conversation and social interaction • Support activities such as board games, cards and creative sessions • Help clients build confidence, independence and new skills • Provide encouragement, patience and a listening ear
You do not need previous experience of brain injury – training and support will be provided.
We are looking for someone who is:
• Caring, friendly and empathetic • A good listener and communicator • Comfortable working both one-to-one and in groups • Reliable and able to make a regular commitment • Respectful of confidentiality • Keen to learn and be part of a supportive team
